US Lacrosse awarded nearly $47,000 in grants in 2012 to support the local lacrosse development efforts of 21 of its chapters through the US Lacrosse Chapter Grant Program . The chapters will utilize the grants on a range of activities, from coaching education clinics to scholastic physical education programs.

"Everyone at US Lacrosse is grateful for the selfless service that all the chapter volunteers provide throughout the country," said Steve Kirr, director of regional development at US Lacrosse. "The chapter grants provide much needed funding for programs and services that support the mission and vision of US Lacrosse."

In alphabetical order, the US Lacrosse chapters receiving 2012 grants and a brief description of the use of the grant:

ALASKA
The chapter will purchase women’s lacrosse equipment in order to hold clinics and start a women’s lacrosse league.

ARIZONA
The chapter will send a local coach and physical education teacher to the 2013 US Lacrosse National Convention in order to become a more effective teacher of lacrosse in the region.

ARKANSAS
The chapter will send local youth coaches to nearby US Lacrosse Level 1 CEP clinics and send high school coaches to US lacrosse Level 2 CEP clinics.

COLORADO
The chapter was awarded four grants, with funds to be used to help youth coaches to attend Level 1 and 2 CEP clinics; to host a Positive Coaching Alliance session during the inaugural Rocky Mountain Regional Convention; to further develop the Field Monitor Program that was piloted last year with a local girls' youth league; and to defray the costs to the chapter for its annual Hall of Fame event.

GREAT PLAINS
The chapter will host an educational lacrosse weekend for coaches, with Level 1 and Level 2 CEP clinics as well as a PCA clinic.

IDAHO
The chapter was awarded three grants, to be used to host a North Idaho Lacrosse Summit; to host a preseason jamboree event; and to introduce a Treasure Valley Coaches Education & Mentoring program for new coaches.

ILLINOIS
The chapter will develop a state-wide committee which will recognize high school Academic All-Americans and host an event in their honor.

MAINE
The chapter will use the grant to reduce the participant registration and tryout fees incurred for the 2013 US Lacrosse National Tournament.

MINNESOTA
The grant will defray the costs of the 2012 Madeline Island lacrosse event targeted for Native American youth communities.

MONTANA
The chapter was awarded two grants which will be used to establish an officials training program and to host a Level 1 CEP clinic.

NEW HAMPSHIRE
The chapter will host a Level 1 CEP clinic and a PCA clinic in its area.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA
The chapter will host five CEP clinics, which will be a combination of three Level 1 clinics and two Level 2 clinics.

RHODE ISLAND
The chapter will implement a middle school physical education lacrosse program throughout the state, with the grant helping to secure the needed equipment and training materials.

RICHMOND
The chapter was awarded four grants, which will be used for start-up expenses to help get new teams and programs off the ground; to support the annual high school All-Star Game hosted by the chapter; to host a Level 2 CEP clinic; and to recruit and train new officials.

SAN DIEGO
The chapter will use the funds to support start-up programs, including expenses in finding coaches and securing parent and school support.

SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA
The chapter will provide financial support to two high schools as their programs transition from club status to a full varsity status.

UTAH
The chapter will host a Utah State Lacrosse Convention for coaches, parents, and officials.

VERMONT
The chapter will host a Level 1 CEP clinic in support of its requirement that all coaches be certified.

WASHINGTON
The chapter was awarded two grants, which will be used to continue funding athletics trainers for local games, and to support the Seatown Classic, the first NCAA Division I lacrosse game played in Washington.

WESTERN MARYLAND
The chapter will complete necessary maintenance for the AED unit purchased two years ago and provide additional AED training for chapter members.

WISCONSIN
The chapter will host a Super Weekend, which includes Level 1 and Level 2 CEP clinics, officials training, and PE lacrosse training.
