The Georgia Chapter sponsored CPR training for adults and youth in 2010. |
The chapter supports many local efforts, including the Care in the Community Lacrosse Invitational. The tournament benefitted a family that was unfortunately struck by a lightning storm this past summer. Through the Georgia Chapter’s assistance and guidance (among many others), the event raised over $20,000 for the family while also training hundreds of people (including kids) in CPR and providing materials for concussion awareness, dehydration, and lightning safety.
The Georgia Chapter also hosts its own events, such as the chapter hall of fame, coaching education clinics, as well as officials' trainings. Georgia was one of eleven chapters to initially support the USL Men’s Division Safety and Sportsmanship Campaign!
The chapter created a "Newcomer Grant," to be used to reimburse a new-to-the-sport high school coach (one girls' coach and one boys' coach) up to $500 in order to attend the US Lacrosse National Convention. The chapter has done this the past two years.
Congratulations to Veronica Hewgley and the rest of the Georgia Chapter Board!
