The U.S. men's team defeated Canada 12-10 in the gold medal game to win the 2010 World Championship in Manchester, England. The U.S. has won 26 of the 31 international field world championships held since 1967.

US Lacrosse coordinates all aspects of the U.S. Men's and Women's National Teams Program. U.S. National Teams compete in sanctioned world championships through the Federation of International Lacrosse. The FIL was formed in 2008, following a merger of the International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) and the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations (IFWLA).

The U.S. National Teams Program field four primary teams - the U.S. Men's Team, the U.S. Women's Team, the U.S. Men's Under-19 Team and the U.S. Women's Under-19 team. The U.S. Women's Team is selected annually, while all other teams are chosen every four years.

U.S. Men's Team: The U.S. men's team won the gold medal at the 2010 FIL Men's World Championship in Manchester, England. The U.S. has won nine of the 11 world championships conducted since 1967, earning gold in 1967, 1974, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010. The U.S. finished as the runner-up in 1978 and 2006. The U.S. will serve as host for the 2014 World Championship in Denver.

U.S. Women's Team: The U.S. women's team returned the World Cup to the United States by winning the FIL World Cup in 2009 in Prague, Czech Republic. It was the team's sixth World Cup championship, having brought home the gold in 1982, 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2001. The U.S. finished as the runner-up in 1986 and 2005.

U.S. Men's U19 Team: The U.S. men's U19 team has won all seven world championships in 1988, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2008 and 2012. Most recently, Team USA defeated Canada in the 2012 FIL World Championships in Turku, Finland to win gold.

U.S. Women's U19 Team
: The U.S. women's U19 team has won four consecutive world championships (1999, 2003, 2007 and 2011) after finishing as the runner-up in the inaugural championship in 1995. The United States captured its most recent FIL Women's U19 World Cup title in Germany in August 2011.

The FIL also conducts an indoor world championship. The U.S. team that competes in that event is not managed by US Lacrosse, as the organizational focus is on field lacross. The U.S. finished third in the 2007 and 2011 indoor world championships.
