International lacrosse is now governed by the Federation of International Lacrosse and the next FIL Men's U-19 World Championship will be held in 2012 in Turku, Finland.

The U.S. Men's Under-19 Team won its sixth consecutive world championship in 2008, finishing 7-0 in the tournament in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. The U.S. squad defeated host Canada 19-12 in the gold medal game to improve to 36-0 all-time in international competition.

The first sanctioned U-19 world championship was held in 1988, with Australia serving as the host country and the United States defeating Canada in the final game to win that first ILF U-19 World Championship. Since then the United States has won five more world championships.
