As a member of the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL), US Lacrosse supports the participation of a U.S. team in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. The U.S. placed third in the inaugural championship in 2003 and again in 2007. Both U.S. teams were managed, operated, funded and coached by a third-party contracted entity. Due to its organizational focus on the field game, US Lacrosse does not manage the indoor team and supports the continuation of the current procedure.
U.S. Indoor Lacrosse (USIL Inc.) served as the management group for the most recent World Indoor Lacrosse Championship held May 21-28, 2011 in Prague, Czech Republic.
