Getting to Know…

  • Other sports played in high school: Field hockey, track, softball, volleyball
  • Foreign countries visited: 15 of them, actually.
  • Favorite lacrosse player: Little girls learning to play.
  • Favorite athlete from another sport: I looked up to Steve Young as a child, probably because I always wanted to play football.
  • Strengths as a player: Competitiveness and guts.
  • What should every player at your position be able to do on the field: Work as team and for your teammates, trust the system in place, and have fun!
  • Most important part of your preparation for a game/season: It comes down to evaluating why I compete and what I want to accomplish. It helps to have clear goals in mind. I struggled with focusing too much on my individual play for most of college. Players often overlook the idea that competition should be about becoming the best player you can be, rather than being better than somebody or some other team.
  • What do you wish you knew earlier as a lacrosse player: How special it was to be part of a group of people working toward a goal.
  • Best lacrosse moment: Winning the gold medal against Australia in the 2009 World Cup in a tight, competitive game in a professional European Soccer stadium.
  • Special talent: I can sing a mean karaoke version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”
