Teammates on Megan

Quietly, a huge presence…extremely consistent…being left-handed is huge…make huge game-changing saves that can turn the tide of a game… can do it in a flashy way or in a very technical way…a refreshing honest communicator with the defense.

Getting to Know…

  • Other sports played in high school: Soccer, basketball
  • Visited any foreign countries: Ireland, England, Holland, France, Australia, Greece, Czech Republic, Canada
  • Favorite athlete from another sport: Ed Reed, Baltimore Ravens
  • Best advice from a coach: Play within yourself. It is not your job to do everything, just your role. Play your position and do your job to the best of your ability and you will make the team better.
  • Strengths as a player: Field vision, clearing, communication
  • What should every player at your position be able to do on the field: Direct and communicate with the defense. Have a short-term memory to be able to stay positive and always be ready for the next play.
  • Most important part of your game preparation: Fitness is a huge focus for me. When I feel fit, I can fully engage in the game and not worry about anything else.
  • Game-day ritual: I try to spend 5-10 minutes visualizing positive plays.
  • Tip for young players: Don’t specialize too young. Play as many sports as possible – a lot of skills cross over and you will be a more well-rounded athlete as a result.
  • Best lacrosse moment: I have two. First is shutting out Australia in the second half of our pool play game in Prague at the 2009 World Cup. Second is winning the 2005 ACC Championship with my Duke Blue Devils!
