6-time World Cup Champions
(1982, 1989, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2009)
The United States captured its fifth Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup championship when it defeated Australia 8-7 in the summer of 2009 in the Czech Republic. The U.S. has won either gold or silver in all seven world championships conducted since 1986.
In addition to quadrennial world championship play, the U.S. team program competes on an annual basis with tryouts held each summer. Among the annual activities are participation in the Champion Challenge each January, the Stars & Stripes Weekend each October and conducting a series of National Team Clinics at various locations around the country to teach youth and high school players about the sport and the national team.
