Celebrating the Legacy, Shaping the Future - Baltimore, Md.
On April 28, 2011, the US Lacrosse Foundation Board of Directors hosted a reception at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture in Baltimore. The event, Celebrating the Legacy, Shaping the Future, honored the groundbreaking accomplishments of the Morgan State Ten Bears, the first and only historically black college or university to participate in intercollegiate lacrosse in the United States, and included introductions and presentations by US Lacrosse Foundation Chair Ed Calkins, US Lacrosse President and CEO Steve Stenersen, USLF Managing Director Susie Wittich, USLF Board member Dr. Miles Harrison, and Maryland Attorney Doug Gansler.
The evening reunited members of the original Morgan State lacrosse teams, and also included current Baltimore City youth players, coaches and program administrators. A segment featuring the Morgan team which aired on ESPN in 2005 was also shown.
