The seventh annual US Lacrosse Stars & Stripes event features top international and collegiate women’s lacrosse action and will be be held in California for the first time at Stanford University and nearby Burlingame (Calif.) High School. The seven-team field is the largest in the history of this exhibition event, featuring four premier international teams as well as three collegiate programs.

Stars & Stripes will be the first major competitive event for the 38-player 2012-14 U.S. women’s national team as it begins the march toward the 2013 FIL World Cup in Oshawa, Ontario. The U.S. women’s national team will square off against Australia in the first matchup between the world’s top two teams since 2009, when Team USA defeated Australia 8-7 to capture the gold medal at the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic. Team USA will also take on Team Canada and collegiate programs Cal and Stanford in weekend play, in addition to holding several training sessions.
