Coach Hanson on a Few Players to Watch:
Ace Ayers, attack, captain
Ace’s quickness and hands enable him to control the play around the net. His distinctly quiet demeanor allows him to sneak into openings, and his excellent hand-eye coordination allows his teammates to throw the ball in his general direction with the assurance he will come up with it.
Chris Kepler, goalie
Chris is one of the best U11 goalies I have seen. He has no fear when it comes to getting in front of shots, and he has no problem communicating on the field. His on-field direction helps our defensive unit to work as one. Chris’ strongest point is his passion for the game.
Riley Jelinek, midfield, captain
Riley is fast with a booming shot. His leadership and skill set on the field pale in comparison to his leadership off the field. Riley has the ability to score from anywhere right or left handed, and is a gifted thinker on the field.
Willy Hanson, defense, captain
Willy’s defensive style mimics his abilities as a linebacker in football and a defenseman in hockey. His field toughness, awareness, and ability to communicate make him a strong defenseman that other teams do their best to avoid.
More from the Coach:
I am eager to see how our boys do against teams from other parts of the country. We have been fortunate in our skill set and level of play and are eager to see where we stand outside of Wisconsin. … This team is not an “all-star” team. The players on this team come from three lacrosse associations that are within 10 minutes drive from each other. There are no strangers on this team. They are all friends through hockey, lacrosse, or football. We are the definite underdog given the talent that has been at this tourney in the past. We are working hard to show the Madison area and Wisconsin that lacrosse is a sport that belongs here.
