Maryland's Cathy Reese Joins US Lacrosse Convention Lineup

University of Maryland women’s lacrosse coach to host "Attacking and Shooting" Jan. 11

BALTIMORE, Dec. 7, 2012 — US Lacrosse has named Cathy Reese, head women’s lacrosse coach at the University of Maryland, a speaker at the US Lacrosse National Convention, presented by Champion. Reese will join roughly 150 of the sport’s best coaches, officials and administrators as presenters at the lacrosse world’s largest professional development event Jan. 11-13, 2013, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Reese will host “Attacking and Shooting” for girls’ lacrosse coaches at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 11.

“Cathy is one of the premier coaches in lacrosse today, and we could not be happier that she has joined the lineup of speakers at the US Lacrosse National Convention,” said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse.

“To have the opportunity to speak at this year’s convention is a great honor,” Reese said. “I’m looking forward to working with everyone as we continue to grow the game of lacrosse while reflecting on yet another tremendous year for our sport.”

Reese will enter her seventh season as head coach at her alma mater, having led the Terrapins in 2012 to the ACC championship and the NCAA semifinals as part of a 19-4 season. The campaign marked Maryland’s fourth straight conference title and fourth straight trip to the national semifinals under Reese, who took the Terps to the national championship in 2010. She sports a 148-40 all-time record as a collegiate head coach, which includes three seasons at the University of Denver. Reese has coached dozens of All-Americans and several conference and national honorees, including 2012 Tewaaraton Award winner Katie Schwarzmann. As a player, assistant coach and head coach at Maryland, Reese has been a part of eight NCAA championship teams.

Lacrosse coaches, officials and administrators can purchase convention tickets online at uslacrosse.org/2013convention before Jan. 2 for just $105 (a savings of 30 percent on the walk-up price). The convention ticket includes advance access to speaker handouts and post-event access to audio/video recordings of all convention presentations. Two-time Super Bowl coach Dick Vermeil will kick off the convention with a keynote address at 7 p.m. Jan. 11.
