US Lacrosse has developed these competition guidelines for youth leagues to implement. It is our sincere hope that players across the country will have an opportunity to learn lacrosse in a way that is physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially appropriate. We believe that this increases both the learning and fun for young athletes, which will help them reach their longterm potential.
Note: During the 2016 season, programs, coaches, officials and parents should expect that the current US Lacrosse Youth Rules and Best Practices should be followed for any competition where officials are being used. The small-sided competition guidelines are meant to be used by programs and coaches in developmental settings. The US Lacrosse Games Administration team is currently working closely with our Youth Rules Committees to align the LADM guidelines and youth rules for the 2017 season. We encourage programs to try them and see how they work for their program and provide us with feedback.
