The Hawai’i Women’s Lacrosse team is taking the islands by storm. Formed in early October 2000, the team quickly amassed a strong group of players who are extremely enthusiastic about establishing women’s lacrosse in Hawai’i Nei. Moreover, the team showed that they have just as much skill as energy by beating several of the top teams at the Year 2000 Hawai’i Lacrosse Invitational. The players have certainly been hiding out in the islands for years and are finally emerging from the woodwork. The 2007 Team is ready for the big HI Lax Invitational Tourney this year as well. Fielding Two squads, Eleu and Holona – they will take their Wahine style of play to the mainland and international teams that will come to compete.
Everyone (YES, Beginners WELCOME) who is interested in playing is encouraged to contact our club or come to any upcoming practice to check out da’ scoops. The only equipment needed to play is a lacrosse stick (~$60.00), and you will likely be able to borrow a stick during the short while it will take you to fall in love with the sport.
If you participate in any US Lacrosse sponsored tournaments, you must be a US Lacrosse member (an additional $50 fee). For more information on US Lacrosse membership, please visit www.lacrosse.org.
