Michigan College Scholarship 2013
ANNOUNCEMENT OF APPLICATION PROCESS
NOTE: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 20
The Michigan Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse is pleased to announce the opening of its 2013 college scholarship program. The scholarship amount is $1,000 to each winner. USLM expects to award approximately six scholarships this year, depending on strength of applications.
The scholarship is available to high school seniors playing on their high school's lacrosse team in the spring, 2013 season. A minimum GPA of 3.0 at end of the fall, 2012 high school semester is required. The scholarship is available to persons attending a Michigan College or University in the fall of 2013, and is paid upon proof of enrollment. Other requirements apply.
Applications and all supporting materials must be postmarked by May 20, 2013. Winners will be announced and notified on or about June 1, 2013. Presentations will be made at the USLM Hall of Fame Game for high school graduating seniors, in June.

Urgent! Level 2 Clinic in Birmingham lacking participants!
If you wanted to upgrade to Level 2 certification there is a clinic that will be held on Sunday February 3rd at Birmingham Seaholm HS. Registration closes on Wednesday! The Chapter is covering $60 of the total $90 cost for each participant.

Other clinics are in Grand Rapids the week of February 16th and 17th.
We are still looking for a site on the east side of the state for a Level 1 Clinic on March 23rd. Contact michlaxref@comcast.net if you can provide class space and field space for the day.
Hall of Fame Induction Saturday November 10th, 2012!

US Lacrosse Michigan is inducting its 2012 Hall of Fame Class at a celebration on November 10. The place is Peabody’s in Birmingham. Click here for more details. We hope you can be there to honor Mary Ann Meltzer, Catherine Dritsas, Rob Ambrose, Roger Bunton and Graham Adams, our 2012 inductees. This IS the Michigan lacrosse party of the year!

We had a great tournament this last weekend. If you were there, you know. We are sending this note out to show our appreciation to the teams and all the folks that came together to make it happen. We run the event to raise money, and give kids a chance to play in the fall. We work very hard to make sure we keep teams out of trouble with the MHSAA and everyone, including the MHSAA, seems to understand this. Thank you, it's a great thing. For more details, click HERE.
We are developing an e-mail list for a newsletter that will go out monthly with news, guest blogs, and posting of interest to the Lacrosse Community. You are getting this e-mail because you are either on that list or were the contact for one of the teams at this years 7v7. We have added the team contacts names to the e-mail list. If you do not wish to be on this list, please use the "unsubscribe" feature at the bottom of the list. We do not sell or give e-mail info out and we only send out our own e-mails. But we want to reach as many Lacrosse minded people as possible.
I do want to alert all of you of a nice tradition that we have been doing for 4 years now. This Saturday we will host our Hall Of Fame Celebration to honor five people that have contributed greatly to Lacrosse in Michigan. It's not to late to get your check in to come and join the fun and camaraderie as we honor, Roger Bunton, Cathy Dritsas, Rob Ambrose, Mary Ann Meltzer, and Graham Adams. The info is on our website and the link to the flier is HERE. Members of US Lacrosse get a $10 discount. The space is limited to 100 and each year we get closer to reaching capacity. This is the Lacrosse party to attend. There will be great lies, stories, and tall tales told of epic battles and epic after battles.

19th ANNUAL FALL 7 ON 7 TOURNAMENT—Boys and Girls

The 19th annual 7v7 tournament will be held on Saturday November 3rd and Sunday November 4th. Youth and JV Boys & Girls will play on Saturday. Varsity Boys & Girls will play on Sunday. The tournament will be held at the Northville Community Park, 5 Mile Rd & N. Beck Rd, Northville, MI.

The deadline is OCTOBER 19, 2012 AT 5:00 P.M., but we may sell out earlier. REGISTRATION IS COMPLETE ONLY UPON OUR RECEIPT OF CHECK FOR $350 or ON-LINE PAYMENT. Rosters will be completed on-line and must be complete by October, 26, 2012. NO EXCEPTIONS.
