On Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, the Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse hosted more than 500 coaches and officials at Marymount University in Arlington for the Annual Coaches Clinic and 2012 Season Kickoff. Our special thanks to Coach Jon Reynolds and to the Marymount University Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Teams for making the facilities available for us.

The morning sessions were devoted to reviewing and Q&A of the rules of play for Youth Lacrosse in the 2012 season. The Potomac Chapter announced its The afternoon sessions were presentations and hands-on field demonstrations of how to organize and implement youth lacrosse practices for both beginner and advanced coaches and players.

The afternoon sessions featured the coaches and players from the three time ( 2009,2010,2011) VHSL Boy’s Champions – Langley HS Boy’s Coach Earl Brewer; the 2011 VHSL Championship Undefeated Madison HS Girl’s Team Coach Amanda Counts, and 2011 IAC Championship Georgetown Prep School Coach Kevin Giblin ( 8 total IAC Championships and Potomac Chapter Lacrosse Hall of Fame Class of 2007 Inductee), on how to organize and implement youth lacrosse practices for both the beginner and for the advanced youth lacrosse coaches and players.

The size and quality of lacrosse in the Greater Washington DC Metro area continues to grow exponentially. In our 2011 Participation study announced in 2012, shows that the number of players, coaches has grown to over 43,000.
