Greater Baltimore Chapter Launches Speaker Series
Dr. Richard Ginsburg, a noted sports psychologist and a member of the US Lacrosse Sports Science & Safety Committee, recently served as the featured guest in the first session of the Greater Baltimore Chapter’s new speaker series. Sue Diffenderffer, president of the chapter, said: "We got a lot of positive comments from those that were there. They all thought Richard was engaging and had just the right amount of humor and antidotes along with the information he provided." More details here.


Oregon Chapter Supporting New Event

The Oregon lacrosse community is launching a new event in memory of longtime supporter Frederick "Fritz" Hayes, a lacrosse parent, official, and tireless champion for the growth of the game in Oregon. In his honor, the Oregon High School Lacrosse Association is kicking off the 2013 season on March 9 with the "Fritz Hayes Classic," featuring games between last year's four boys' semifinal teams. The doubleheader at Lake Oswego HS begins at 1 p.m. All proceeds will support youth lacrosse and the growth of the sport in Oregon. More details here.


North Texas Chapter Event Supports Wounded Warrior Project
Tickets are now available for the Fifth Annual Patriot Cup event to be held March 1-2 at SMU’s Ford Stadium in Dallas. The Patriot Cup showcases some of the nation’s premier men's collegiate and high school programs, including this year's match-up between Georgetown and Dartmouth. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, supporting the men and women of the U.S armed forces. North Coast Ohio Clinic Has Holiday Spirit
The North Coast Ohio Chapter is hosting a clinic for youth & high school boys to benefit the USMC's Toys For Tots Foundation on Sunday, December 2 at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio. MLL defenseman and Ohio-native Max Schmidt of the Ohio Machine will be among the featured clinicians, along with other coaches and former NCAA players. Greater Rochester Welcomes Its 19th Hall of Fame Class
The Greater Rochester Chapter inducted its 2012 Hall of Fame class on Nov. 2 with a dinner ceremony at the Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford. The four inductees were: John Hayes, a college All-American and two-time national champion at Hobart; Brent Rothfuss, college All-American and pro player; Jacques Monte, a three-time national champion at Hobart and pro player; and Patty Queener, founder of the women's program at Penn Yan High School and winner of two state championships. North Texas Chapter's Halloween Shootout Helps Food Bank
The North Texas Chapter hosted its annual Halloween Shootout on October 27-28, a tournament for girls' and boys' teams ranging from 3rd grade through high school varsity. In the first year of a partnership with the North Texas Food Bank, the chapter donated $1,000 from the event's proceeds to the food bank, in addition to over $1,700 in contributions made by individuals associated with the participating teams.

Washington Chapter Organizes State's First NCAA Division I Game
The Washington chapter hosted the Seatown Classic on October 13, matching the Maryland men’s team against Denver in the first NCAA Division I lacrosse game played in the state of Washington. The event also included girls' and boys' player clinics, men’s and women’s coaching clinics, and was deemed "US Lacrosse Day" by the Tukwila mayor. The game drew an impressive turnout of 3,589, who watched as the Pioneers upset the Terps 12-9 at the Starfire Sports Complex Stadium, located just south of Seattle.
