The Women’s Division National Tournament (WDNT) will take place over Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-26, 2008). The McDonough School (located in Owings Mills, Maryland) and St. Paul’s School (located in Brooklandville, Maryland) will play host to the WDNT, which has grown into one of the largest women’s lacrosse events in the nation and features four levels of play: Schoolgirls, Senior Only, Regional Club, and Stars & Stripes divisions.
US Lacrosse and the WDOC requires all National and International rated umpires to perform National Service at least once during their three-year rating term, or at least twice during a four-year rating term. Through umpiring and/or rating at the WDNT, this requirement can be fulfilled. Failure to fulfill this requirement may result in the loss of one’s National rating.
District rated umpires are encouraged to register and would benefit from this experience of three-person officiated games. Skilled Local rated umpires familiar with the three-person system are also encouraged to register to officiate. Local rated umpires interested must list past experience with the three-person system OR be recommended by their Local Board Chair.
Attention National and International Umpires providing "service", i.e. "Raters": we (the WDOC Executive Committee) need 27 "Raters" who would be willing to serve as "Head Raters" (one for each of the 27 candidates) AND willing to serve all day Sunday, May 25th and Monday, May 26th through 2 p.m. Please contact Jeff Secor at jmsecor@earthlink.net or Laurette Payette at lpayette@roadrunner.com.
A new feature in 2008 is an online registration process. When registering, please be prepared to provide your USL number, current rating, current region, and event availability for May 24-26, 2008. Information will be forwarded to our Tournament Assignor of Umpires, Deb Martin. All "New" and "Renew" National Candidates are required to stay throughout the WD National Tournament — Saturday, May 25, and Monday, May 26. The last game ends at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 26th.
