2008 Putting Tournament in Baltimore

Annual US Lacrosse Putting Tournament

Tuesday, July 8, 2008
Caves Valley Golf Club
Baltimore, Maryland

To benefit The US Lacrosse Foundation

A Big Night for Baltimore Lacrosse
The US Lacrosse Foundation Putting Tournament returns home to Baltimore in 2008! The Greater Baltimore Chapter of US Lacrosse boasts a membership of over 5,000 and is one of the "hotbeds" of the national lacrosse community. In addition to being headquartered in Baltimore, US Lacrosse has played a critical role in the continued development of the sport in the state of Maryland. Through a vibrant menu of US Lacrosse programs and services, such as Equipment Grants, Camp Scholarships, Coaches Education Programs, National Team Clinics, BRIDGE Lacrosse Programs, New Start Programs, and, most recently, in partnership with Johns Hopkins’ Native Vision Camp, the future of lacrosse in Maryland has never been brighter! A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Greater Baltimore Chapter.

Caves Valley Golf Club
In 2002, Caves Valley provided a stunning backdrop for the US Lacrosse Foundation’s Annual Putting Tournament. As the Foundations’ only fund raising event, this event has gained momentum and popularity as it traveled across the country to prestigious lacrosse communities and courses such as Merion (PA), Bethpage Black (NY), Olympic (CA) and Las Colinas (TX). Designed by nationally acclaimed golf course architect Tom Fazio as "a golfer's club," the US Lacrosse Foundation Board is delighted to have the opportunity to return to Caves Valley, which continues to be ranked as one of the finest private golf clubs in the country.

 Special Guest, Samuel J. Palmisano
Sam PalmisanoWe are sincerely appreciative to National Hall of Fame member Les Matthews for inviting Sam Palmisano, Chairman, President and CEO of the IBM Corporation, to be our special guest for the evening. As a Baltimore native, Sam attended Calvert Hall and graduated from Johns Hopkins University. His career began in 1973 in Baltimore and since that time, he has held a series of leadership positions during his IBM career. Sam played a key role in creating and leading IBM’s Global Services, the largest and most diversified IT services organization in the industry. As the father of two Middlebury lacrosse players, Alex (Goalie, Class of ’07) and Sam (Midfield, Class of ’12), Sam is a lacrosse parent and enthusiast of the sport!
