Our Vision

US Lacrosse offers a lot of diverse programs to help promote the sport. In 2002, US Lacrosse adopted the following vision statement:

"We envision a future which offers people everywhere the opportunity to discover, learn, participate in, enjoy, and ultimately embrace the shared passion of the lacrosse experience."

The following programs are just some of the ways that US Lacrosse is working to make that vision become a reality:

BRIDGE Lacrosse
BRIDGE programs affiliated with US Lacrosse work collaboratively to introduce and expand the sport of lacrosse in nontraditional and underserved communities to embody diversity of players, coaches, officials and supporters. There are currently 16 BRIDGE programs across 11 states and the District of Columbia.

Camp Scholarship Program
The summer camp circuit in lacrosse is a longstanding tradition in the sport to help players improve and gain exposure. US Lacrosse works with numerous camp owners around the country each year to provide scholarship assistance for these camps to young players with financial need. In 2005, US Lacrosse placed more than 80 individuals in these camps. Nearly 100 camps donated at least one scholarship for 2006.

Fast Break Initiative
The Fast Break Initiative debuted in 2005 in the state of Louisiana. The program is designed to bring a variety of US Lacrosse programs - coaches, player and officials clinics and grant programs - to a geographic area deemed ripe for development of the sport. In 2005, events in New Orleans and Shreveport helped showcase the game to more than 400 individuals. Las Vegas has been selected as the location for the FBI program in 2006.

New Start Program
The US Lacrosse New Start Program provides a comprehensive how-to start up guide for new programs as well as a one-time offer of discounted equipment from a variety of manufacturers. This program has helped launch 1,327 new programs since 200, and last year, programs from 49 states benefitted from the program.

Youth Equipment Grant Program
The cost of equipment is a barrier of entry for some new lacrosse players and programs. US Lacrosse has continually expanded its Youth Equipment Grant Program to break down that barrier. A record 50 organizations in 27 states were awarded grants in 2005 and the grant packages totaled more than $400,000 in retail value.
