On Monday, US Lacrosse announced the final 23-man Team USA roster for the upcoming FIL World Championship, presented by Trusted Choice, July 10-19 in Commerce City, Colo.
These U.S. hopefuls had taken part in an 11-month tryout process spanning five events across seven states on the Road to the Rockies. They had competed against a 98-player tryout pool and a 52-man training squad featuring the nation’s best players. They trained relentlessly all spring, knowing that of the final 31 players, eight would not make the final cut for the World Championship. They competed through the first half of the MLL season with the watchful eyes of the U.S. team coaching staff upon them. They left it all on the field at last week’s training camp and MLL All-Star Game, knowing it was their last opportunity to cement their spot in the red, white and blue.
After nearly a year of training, competition and anticipation, here is how America’s top players reacted to being selected to Team USA.
