US Lacrosse, the national governing body of men’s and women’s lacrosse, announced today that the organization has awarded 29 new grants to encourage and empower lacrosse participation in underrepresented communities. These awards, made through the Diversity & Inclusion Grant Program, will be utilized by local organizations to initiate and continue programs that promote lacrosse diversity participation and education.
US Lacrosse believes that broad representation and participation add significant value to the lacrosse experience, and seeks to provide sustained leadership and resources for the growth of the game in all communities. Now in its second year, the D&I Grant Program is providing $78,000 in grants to this year’s community partners.
“We had a large number of qualified applicant programs that are really making a significant impact around the country, and therefore we increased the number of grants this year in order to provide support for as many deserving organizations as possible,” said Eboni Preston-Laurent, senior manager for diversity and inclusion at US Lacrosse. “We’ve selected some phenomenal groups that are committed to supporting the underrepresented lacrosse community in a truly positive way.”
The majority of the D&I grants range from $1,000 to $3,000, and are awarded in six separate categories: community impact, disability access, girls’ initiatives, urban outreach, event support and BRIDGE programs. The 29 organizations receiving grants this year represent 14 different states across all regions of the country.
The National Diversity and Inclusion Grant Program offers grants in the following categories: Girls’ Initiative, Urban Outreach, Community Impact, Event Support, Disability Access and BRIDGE Programs.
