BALTIMORE, Oct. 1, 2012 – US Lacrosse is hosting a Sports Medicine Symposium on January 11, 2013 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia with the goal of providing comprehensive information on men’s and women’s lacrosse-specific sports medicine.
The event is open to all members of the medical and lacrosse communities, including physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, allied health personnel, coaches, administrators and students. Online registration is now open at www.uslacrosse.org/2013symposium, with fees ranging from $50-$200, based on participant category.
The event will be divided into four primary sections: What's on the Cutting Edge of the Sport; The Latest Research on Head & Neck Injuries; Review of Cardiac and Nutritional Issues; and Musculoskeletal Injuries.
Each of the four sections will be further divided into subtopics featuring multiple presenters, including most members of US Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee. Each presentation will include ample discussion and Q-and-A opportunities.
"The US Lacrosse Sports Science and Safety Committee is comprised of many of the leading sports medicine professionals from across the nation," said Ann Carpenetti, managing director of game administration at US Lacrosse. "We’re extremely fortunate to have their expertise available throughout the year as representatives of US Lacrosse, and we are excited to have so many of them serving as presenters for this important educational symposium."
The Sports Medicine Symposium is being hosted in conjunction with the 2013 US Lacrosse National Convention, which will also be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center January 11-13. While registration for each event is independent, those attendees registering for the convention may add a symposium registration for just $35.
In addition to admittance, symposium registration includes a flash drive for each attendee containing all course materials, a box lunch and light refreshments throughout the event.
The US Lacrosse Sports Medicine Symposium is being planned in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Union Memorial Hospital and US Lacrosse. Details regarding continuing medical education for physicians as well as ATC and PT credit for this course will be announced soon.
