BALTIMORE, August 22, 2012 – US Lacrosse today announced the support and medical staffs for the 2014 U.S. men’s national team, which will defend its gold medal at the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships, hosted by US Lacrosse and set for July 10-19, 2014, in Denver.

The support staff includes Billy Rebman (general manager), William Dawson (associate general manager), John Espey (staff liaison) and Adam Silva (director of operations), while Brad Mountcastle (head trainer) and Adam Thomas (assistant trainer) round out the medical staff.

These volunteer staff members begin duties at the "Duel in Denver," a Sept. 8 exhibition at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Denver between Team USA and Team Canada, and run through the 2014 FIL World Championships.

Rebman has been selected for a second time to lead the support staff as the general manager, after serving in that capacity for the gold medal-winning 2010 U.S. men’s national team. A former player at C.W. Post, he brings nearly 40 years of lacrosse experience and 25 years of television experience to the team, and currently serves as Vice President of NBC Sports Research & Olympics division. Rebman will be responsible for overseeing the logistical support surrounding team practices and exhibitions.

Dawson, a former Naval officer and current corporate business executive in Annapolis, previously served as the officer representative for the United States Naval Academy men’s lacrosse team under 2014 U.S. men’s national team head coach Richie Meade from 2004-07. A former player at Navy, Dawson is experienced in developing and executing team operations and logistical plans. He will use these experiences to assist in coordinating team scheduling, travel, and player appearances.

Espey, as staff liaison, will be responsible for program-wide quality control, scouting operations and coordinating scrimmage teams. Currently an assistant coach of the MLL’s Long Island Lizards and a volunteer assistant at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Espey has 24 years of Division I head coaching experience at Duke (1976-81) and Stony Brook (1987-2004). A former player at Cortland State, Espey also has twice served as a selector for the U.S. men’s national team.

Silva, a member of the US Lacrosse Board of Directors and men’s game subcommittee, is an experienced lacrosse player and coach currently volunteering as an assistant coach at Jacksonville in addition to coaching numerous youth and high school programs in North Florida. As director of operations, Silva will oversee the distribution and fulfillment of the team’s equipment and apparel needs as well as videography. A former Army officer and player at the United States Military Academy, Silva currently works as chief development officer at the Wounded Warrior Project.

"We are very fortunate to have such a committed, skilled, and passionate support staff," says Nathaniel Badder, US Lacrosse director of national teams. "These are all team-first individuals who will do whatever it takes to help prepare the team for competition and support the coaching staff in every way possible."

Mountcastle and Thomas join Margot Putukian (team primary care physician) and Brett Owens (team orthopedist) on the medical staff. Mountcastle has served as the head athletics trainer at Johns Hopkins University since 2004, including for the national championship men's lacrosse teams in 2005 and 2007. He has been a member of the Johns Hopkins training staff since 1999. Thomas is currently the head athletic trainer for the MLL’s Boston Cannons and has been the staff athletics trainer at Northeastern University since 2005.

"We received several outstanding applicants, all with extensive backgrounds, and we are extremely pleased with our selections," said Putukian, who also chairs the US Lacrosse Sports Science & Safety Committee. "We have two well-trained athletic trainers with top-notch collegiate and professional experience and a skill set that will, together with our physician staff and other support staff, provide for an excellent multidisciplinary team to support our men's national team."

Meade was selected as head coach of the 2014 U.S. men’s national team in December 2011. Assistant coaches Kevin Cassese (Lehigh), Dave Pietramala (Johns Hopkins) and Jeff Tambroni (Penn State) were named to the staff in February 2012.
