BALTIMORE, July 17, 2012 – US Lacrosse is accepting applications for the 2014 U.S. Men’s National Team support staff and medical staff through Sunday, July 29. Support staff openings include general manager, assistant general manager, equipment manager and videographer. Open medical staff positions include head athletic trainer and assistant athletic trainer.
These volunteer positions begin duties at the "Duel in Denver," a September 8 exhibition at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Denver, Colo. between Team USA and Team Canada, and run through the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships, hosted by US Lacrosse and set for July 10-19, 2014, in Denver, Colo. US Lacrosse covers the cost of travel and all expenses related to travel, including meals and lodging, for support staff members, but these are not paid positions.
The general manager and head coach serve under the direction of and report to the US Lacrosse director of national teams, with oversight from the men’s national team sub-committee and the men’s game committee. Support staff members report to the general manager.
Former Navy head coach Richie Meade was selected as head coach of the 2014 U.S. men’s national team in December 2011. Assistant coaches Kevin Cassese (Lehigh), Dave Pietramala (Johns Hopkins) and Jeff Tambroni (Penn State) were named to the staff in February 2012. The U.S. men’s national team is seeking its 10th world championship after reclaiming the gold medal at the 2010 FIL World Championships in Manchester, England.
