Ward Melville (N.Y.) No. 1 in Final Nike/US Lacrosse High School Boys' Lacrosse Top 25 of 2013

BALTIMORE, June 26, 2013 — Unbeaten Ward Melville (N.Y.), which concluded its season by winning the state Class A championship game to finish at 22-0, earned all first-place votes to claim the No. 1 ranking in the final Nike/US Lacrosse High School Boys’ Lacrosse Top 25 poll, released today by US Lacrosse. The poll appears as part of Lacrosse Magazine’s bi-weekly report on high school boys’ lacrosse at laxmagazine.com/hsb25.

The Patriots got all nine first-place votes after defeating West Genesee, 16-4, June 8 to win the state championship, their first since 2000, and finish as the only undefeated team in the poll.

Overall, teams representing nine states and Washington, D.C., fill the Top 25. MIAA champion Loyola-Blakefield (Md.) finished second while one-loss Boys' Latin (Md.) takes third. New York Class B champion Garden City and D.C. power Gonzaga complete the Top 5. A full high school season recap will appear in the August issue of Lacrosse Magazine.
