U15 Central Regional and Lax Fest

June 11, 2011    12914 Views

Nearly 50 youth lacrosse teams will hit the Patterson Sports Complex in Arlington, Texas this weekend for the US Lacrosse Lax Fest and U15 Central Regional Championship events.

The US Lacrosse U15 Central Regional Championship is the second of three regional championships leading up to the 2011 US Lacrosse U15 National Championship, presented by Champion. The national championships take place July 20-22 for girls and July 22-24 for boys as part of the ESPN RISE GAMES at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is the defending national champion on the boys’ side and the Yellow Jackets (N.Y.) won last year’s girls’ championship.

This weekend, 35 teams will participate in the US Lacrosse Lax Fest, a five-division event (U13 and U15 girls and U11, U13 and U15 boys), and 10 teams will compete in the boys and girls U15 regional championship. The 45 teams are primarily from Texas, but also include representatives from California, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

More than 100 games are scheduled to be played at the event, which opens on Friday afternoon and continues through Sunday. The boys and girls U15 regional championship games are both set for 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The first US Lacrosse regional championship was held last month and the Pacific Falcons (Calif.) won the girls’ West region title in Phoenix.

The US Lacrosse U15 Southeast Regional Championship and Lax Fest will be held from June 17-19 at the CASL Soccer Complex in Raleigh, N.C. A total of 58 teams are signed up for the event.
