BALTIMORE – US Lacrosse has recently been selected the 46th Best NonProfit Organization to Work for in 2011 as awarded by The NonProfit Times and Best Companies Group. US Lacrosse is the only athletics organization to rank in the top 50.
The NonProfit Times and Best Companies Group designed this nationwide survey and awards program in 2010 to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in the nonprofit industry, benefiting the industry's economy, its workforce and businesses.
"This recognition speaks highly of what we aspire to be as a best-practice nonprofit organization, as well as the sport’s national governing body," said Steve Stenersen, president and CEO of US Lacrosse and the US Lacrosse Foundation. "We are committed to the constant evolution and improvement of the employee experience, and we’re honored to be recognized alongside so many wonderful national organizations."
For consideration in participation, organizations had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Employ at least 15 people working in the United States;
- Be a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status;
- Operate a facility in the United States; and
- Be in business a minimum of one year.
Organizations from across the nation entered the two-part process to determine the top 50 organizations. The first part, approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation, consisted of evaluating each nominated organization's workplace policies, practices and demographics. The second part, approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation, consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top organizations and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in the United States and also analyzed the data to determine the final rankings.
