BALTIMORE, Dec. 21, 2012 – US Lacrosse has received a major gift to the organization’s recently-established Hurricane Sandy Relief and Recovery Fund from Team 22 Innovation, an authorized licensee of Under Armour lacrosse products. Valued at more than $95,000 MSRP, the donation includes 200 sets of men’s protective gear (shoulder pads, arm pads and gloves) as well as 40 sets of women’s equipment (stick and goggles).
"We wanted to use our resources to help the lacrosse community in a direct way,” said Jenny Riitano Levy, Director of Marketing & Retail Sales for Team 22 Innovation. “We hope this donation will help those players affected by this tragedy to continue with their seasons and have some fun."
"We are incredibly grateful for Team 22’s generosity in support of US Lacrosse’s Hurricane Sandy Relief and Recovery Fund," said Susie Chase, managing director of the US Lacrosse Foundation. "This expression of leadership and commitment to those communities impacted will help US Lacrosse greatly in our efforts to provide avenues for a return to normalcy. We look forward to getting this equipment into the hands of those who need it and to working to help these communities blossom again."
US Lacrosse created a Hurricane Sandy Relief and Recovery Fund in response to the devastating storm that affected a large percentage of the organization’s members along the eastern seaboard. Donations to the fund will provide lacrosse-specific grants to communities in need. US Lacrosse is committed to distributing 100 percent of contributions to those in need through collaboration with local US Lacrosse chapters.
On Dec. 9, US Lacrosse hosted complimentary U.S. National Team instructional clinics on Long Island for more than 300 youth and high school boys and girls.
