Cafaro's lacrosse career began at MacArthur High School where he played three years varsity lacrosse from 1964-1967.
An attackman at the United States Military Academy from 1967-1971, Cafaro was a First Team All-American in 1970 and 1971, and a Second Team All-American in 1969. Cohen's long and dedicated service to lacrosse began in 1934 as a defenseman at the New York Military Academy.
In 1937, Cohen played defense for the Lafayette College Club team before switching to attack in 1939. Cohen won the 1939 Pennsylvania High Scorer Award and was named a All-Pennsylvania Star in 1939 and 1940. He was also captain ofthe 1940 team.
