Kowalski was a three-time All-American midfielder at Cortland State (SUNY Cortland) in 1967,1968 and 1969. He was selected the Athlete of the Year at Cortland State in 1969. He was a member of the US Men's team in 1974, and an alternate for the 1978 US Team. Kowalski was an 11-time USCLA All-Star selection. In 1989, he was inducted to the Long Island Metropolitan Chapter of the Lacrosse Foundation Hall of Fame. He was the head coach at Half Hollow Hills West High School from 1978-1988, and in 1981 he was honored as the Suffolk County Coach of the Year. He is now the assistant coach at CW Post-Long Island University. A graduate of Mineola High School, Kowalski now lives in Albertson, New York. Kowalski is being inducted as "a truly great player."
