Harry G. Beggs, Yale Alumnus of the Class of 1932, who achieved
All-American Honors in lacrosse three years, was elected to the
Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1973. Beggs joins three other famous Yale
Athletes -- Walter Collins, Malcom MacIntyre, and Winthrop Smith
to be elected to the prestigious Hall.
Playing second attack for Yale, he won All-American honors in 1930,
and First Team honors in 1931 and 1932. He was captain of the freshman
team as well as the varsity.
In addition to his lacrosse accomplishments at Yale, he also was
a member of the freshman basketball team and was captain of the
class basketball teams of 1930, 1931 and 1932. He was also elected
to the illustrious Aurelian Senior Honor Society.
While at Brooklyn Manual High School, Harry participated in a variety
of activities in addition to lacrosse--he was a member of the 1926
undefeated championship football team, a member of the basketball
team, manager of the swimming team, President of the Student General
Organization, Editor-in-Chief of the school paper, and President
of Arista (the Student Scholastic Honor Society).
His business interests have taken him from Tlatley, Mexico, where
he was the Treasurer of the St. Elmo Mining and Manufacturing Company
in 1932, to New York City as a Management Consultant with Stevenson,
Jordan and Harrison, to Richmond, Ind., as the Vice President of
the National Automatic Tool Company, and to Cambridge City, Ind.,
as President of B-H Metal Fabricators. He returned to New York City
as a Management Consultant with Cresap, McCormick and Paget, then
served as Vice President of the International Telephone and Telegraph
Corporation. He founded and currently owns Beggs Associates in Weston,
Conn.
Harry Beggs resides in Weston, with his wife Louise, the former
Louise Simminger. They have three sons: John E. (Yale - 1961), James
H. (Yale-1966) and Harry G. Jr. (Colorado Schools of Mines - 1969).
