Drafted: 1st Round - Bridgeport (2002)
Highlights: Doug spent four seasons in a Barrage uniform before getting drafted in the 1st Round (4th overall) of the 2006 MLL Expansion Draft by the Chicago Machine....Two-time MLL All-Star (2003, '05)...2005: Started all 12 games and finished with 13 points. He scored 10 goals, including one two-pointer, and had two assists. Doug also won 153 of 303 face-offs (50%)...2004: Helped Philadelphia capture the 2004 MLL championship. He finished with 18 points during the regular season (12 goals, six assists) and also won 159 of 324 face-offs (49%). Doug added three goals during the 2004 postseason, including two goals in the 13-11 win over Boston in the MLL final...2003: Started all 12 games and finished with 28 points. He recorded 19 goals and five assists. He finished third in the league with four two-point goals, and was second in the league in face-off percentage at .522 (154-295)...2002: Drafted by the Bridgeport Barrage (1st overall) in the 2002 MLL Supplemental Draft.

NLL
Highlights: Doug played in eight games for the New York Saints in the 2003 season...He scored a total of seven goals and four assists in his brief NLL career.

At Hofstra: Had a phenomenal senior season for Hofstra, earning first-team All-America honors and being selected as the nation's outstanding midfielder and player...He was the inaugural winner of the Tewaaraton Trophy, presented to the nation's top player...Helped Hofstra to the NCAA quarterfinals in 1999 and 2001...Shanahan was also a two-time All-America defensive back in football at Hofstra, leading the school to three NCAA Division I-AA playoff appearances.
