The International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) sanctioned the first ever Under-19 World Championship back in 1988. The host country Australia finished second to the United States in that first ILF U-19 World Championship. Since then the United States has won four more world championships, five straight all together. The United States has won two championships on its own soil. Australia has been runner-up three times and Canada has been the runner-up the last two world championships.
