Assistant Coaches Named For 2002 US Men's Lacrosse Team
Mike Pressler, Ray Rostan and Ron Frazier join Jack Emmer's staff
Baltimore — US Lacrosse has announced that Duke head coach Mike
Pressler, Hampden-Sydney head coach Ray Rostan and Brine Lacrosse
Club head coach Ron Frazier will serve as assistant coaches for
the 2002 US Men's Lacrosse Team, which will compete for the world
championship in Australia. Army head coach Jack Emmer will serve
as the head coach for the US team.
In 11 seasons at Duke, Pressler has led the Blue Devils to a record
of 98-50, with seven NCAA Division I tournament berths and a semifinal
appearance in 1997. Rostan has spent the last 15 years of his coaching
career at Hampden-Sydney College where he has led the Tigers to
five NCAA Division III tournaments. Rostan was the national coach
of the year in Division III in 1989 and 1998. Frazier is in his
second stint with the Brine Lacrosse Club of the United States Club
Lacrosse Association. In 13 seasons he has led the team to 10 Yankee
Division championships. He was a member of the 1974 US team which
won the gold medal at the World Games in Sydney, Australia.
Tryouts for the 2002 team will be held from June 14-17, 2001 at
the University of Delaware. The International Lacrosse Federation
World Championship will be held from July 6-14, 2002 in Perth, Australia.
The US defeated Canada 15-14 in overtime to win the 1998 championship
at Homewood Field in Baltimore.
