U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team To Play At Princeton, Penn
Baltimore The 2002-03 United States Women's Lacrosse
Elite Team will play two exhibition games the weekend of Oct. 19-20.
The U.S. meets up with defending NCAA Division I champion Princeton
on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Class of 1952 Stadium in Princeton,
N.J. and then plays at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin
Field on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
Three Princeton alumsmidfielders Crista Samaras and Julie
Shaner and defender Lucy Smallare members of the 20-player
U.S. Elite Team. Penn assistant coaches Alex Kahoe and Shaner are
both members of the U.S. team.
The U.S. won its fourth straight World Cup in the summer of 2001,
defeating Australia 14-7 in High Wycombe, England for the International
Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations championship. The next
World Cup will be played in 2005 and the U.S. will be the host country.
Prior to the competition, the U.S. team will be out in the community
conducting clinics at the following locations: Ridgewood, N.J.,
Moorestown, N.J., West Windsor, N.J. and Berwyn, Pa. The clinics
are being coordinated by the New Jersey Chapter of US Lacrosse with
special assistance from Nanette Pigaga and Lisa Christy. For application
