U.S. Women's Lacrosse Team To Play At Princeton, Penn

Baltimore — The 2002-03 United States Women's Lacrosse Elite Team will play two exhibition games the weekend of Oct. 19-20. The U.S. meets up with defending NCAA Division I champion Princeton on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. at the Class of 1952 Stadium in Princeton, N.J. and then plays at the University of Pennsylvania's Franklin Field on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.

Three Princeton alums—midfielders Crista Samaras and Julie Shaner and defender Lucy Small—are members of the 20-player U.S. Elite Team. Penn assistant coaches Alex Kahoe and Shaner are both members of the U.S. team.
The U.S. won its fourth straight World Cup in the summer of 2001, defeating Australia 14-7 in High Wycombe, England for the International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations championship. The next World Cup will be played in 2005 and the U.S. will be the host country.

Prior to the competition, the U.S. team will be out in the community conducting clinics at the following locations: Ridgewood, N.J., Moorestown, N.J., West Windsor, N.J. and Berwyn, Pa. The clinics are being coordinated by the New Jersey Chapter of US Lacrosse with special assistance from Nanette Pigaga and Lisa Christy.
