US Lacrosse Announces 2002 All-intercollegiate Associates Teams

Baltimore - US Lacrosse has named 125 student-athletes to the 2002 All-Intercollegiate Associates Teams, as announced by the US Lacrosse Men’s and Women’s Intercollegiate Associates Councils, respectively. The Men’s Division Intercollegiate Associates Council also released its 37-member All-Academic Team, for which honorees must maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 and have been named to their all-conference or all-tournament team.

The 2002 All-IA teams and honorees:

Women’s IA Players of the Year: Attack-Ashley Kiersted (Cal Poly-SLO). Midfield-Alison Lee (UCLA). Defense-Megan Raley (Delaware). Goal-Melissa Konal (Michigan State).

Women’s IA Coach of the Year: JD Chapman (Michigan State).

The US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates comprise a group of traditional college club programs from virtually every region of the country. More than 140 men’s and 100 women’s intercollegiate associate teams competed this year. The season recently concluded in St. Louis with the sixth annual US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates National Championships. Sonoma State defeated Colorado State for the men’s championship, while Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo beat Air Force for its second straight women’s title.
