IWLCA/US Lacrosse College All-America Teams Announced
The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association and US
Lacrosse are pleased to announce the All-America teams for the 2002
season. This is the first year that the two organizations have joined
efforts in promoting the accomplishments of student-athletes on
the lacrosse field. The awards are sponsored by Brine Lacrosse,
Inc.
NCAA Division I champion Princeton placed three athletes on the
first team, while runner-up Georgetown and semifinalist UNC both
had two honorees. ACC regular-season champion Virginia had two first-team
selections, as did CAA regular-season champion Loyola.
In Division II, national champion West Chester placed three players
on the first team while national runner-up Stonehill had two selections.
NCAA semifinalist Longwood had three honorees while fellow semifinalist
C. W. Post placed two athletes on the first team. The Mercyhurst
Lakers also had multiple selections to the first team
with two athletes being so honored.
Division III titleist Middlebury was honored with three first-team
selections while the College of New Jersey, the 2002 runner-up,
also had three honorees. NCAA semifinalist Amherst placed two on
the first team while NESCAC foe Williams also had two first-team
selections. CAC tournament and regular-season champion St. Mary's
College of Maryland also had two honorees on the first team.
