All-WDIA 2003

ALL-WDIA TEAMS ANNOUNCED

BALTIMORE - Junior Bridget Mulhern of Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo was named the player of the year to highlight the 2003 selections for the US Lacrosse Women's Division Intercollegiate Associates. Mulhern helped Cal Poly go 17-2 to earn the second seed for the WDIA national championships, which begin today in St. Louis.

Four other major awards were announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday evening in St. Louis. Cal Poly senior Ashley Kiersted was named the attack player of the year, Virginia Tech's Kara Fornoff was named the defensive player of the year and Navy's Natalie Fries was named the goalie of the year. Cal Poly's Brandon Badgley and Navy's Moira Leavitt were named the co-coaches of the year.

The WDIA is comprised of more than 100 traditional club teams from around the country. The WDIA is a council of the Women's Division of US Lacrosse, the sport's national governing body.
