U.S. Women's U-19 Team Named

2003 U.S. WOMEN'S U-19 LACROSSE TEAM NAMED

BALTIMORE - Sixteen players have been chosen to represent the United States in the 2003 International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations U-19 World Championship. The championship will be held in conjunction with the International Lacrosse Federation Men's U-19 World Championship at Towson (Md.) University from June 26 to July 5. The joint championship will be hosted by US Lacrosse. The U.S. is the defending champion in both the men's and women's events, having won the titles in 1999.

The final 16 players (the IFWLA-mandated roster size) were chosen from a 24-member training team that was selected after national tryouts last August. The training team competed at the 70th annual US Lacrosse Women's Division National Tournament last weekend at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

The U-19 women's team will play an exhibition game on Sunday, June 22 at 1 p.m. at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. The U.S. team's first game in the world championship will be on Friday, June 27 at 5 p.m. against Australia.
