WARRIOR SIGNS ON AS SPONSOR OF U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL LACROSSE TEAMS
BALTIMORE - US Lacrosse and Warrior Lacrosse have reached an agreement in which Warrior will serve as the exclusive lacrosse equipment and merchandise sponsor of the U.S. Women's National Teams Program. The agreement runs through 2006 and will include the 2005 International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Associations World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States.
"We're really excited about Warrior's support of the U.S. Women's National Teams Program," said Erin B. Millon, Women's Division Director of US Lacrosse. "This is the first time we've had an exclusive equipment sponsor for our women's team program and Warrior's commitment to the program will allow us continue to strengthen and market our U.S. Teams".
Warrior's sponsorship includes cash, equipment and soft goods and will help to fund the initiatives of the Women's National Teams Program. The program includes two teams, the Elite and Developmental teams, which compete on an annual basis in exhibition events and clinics; the U-19 team, which competes every four years at the IFWLA U-19 championship; and the World Cup team at the senior level which competes every four years at the IFWLA World Cup Championship.
The U.S. Women's National Teams Program also conducts a National Clinic Month each February which features U.S. team players sharing their knowledge and expertise with players at sites all over the country. In 2003, 11 clinics were offered in nine states. The program also includes the annual summertime USA Player Camp, a high-level camp for high school and college players that is designed to develop players with the potential to play at the international level.
US Lacrosse, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, is the national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse. Warrior Lacrosse, Inc., founded in 1994, is a leading global provider of innovative and high performance lacrosse equipment.
