US Lacrosse Names Two New BRIDGE Affiliates
BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse has announced that two more youth lacrosse programs have been selected for its BRIDGE (Building Relationships to Initiate Diversity, Growth and Enrichment) Initiative. Native Lacrosse, Inc. of Denver, and the Parks and People Foundation, operator of the Baltimore City Middle School Lacrosse League, applied for BRIDGE affiliation and were accepted.
“These programs work tirelessly to expand lacrosse’s reach in their respective cities,” said Jennifer Allen, director of programs for US Lacrosse. “Their commitment to increasing the sport’s diversity matches the goals of the US Lacrosse BRIDGE Initiative, and we’re pleased to welcome these like-minded programs under our umbrella.”
Native Lacrosse was founded in 1996 and operates many initiatives to teach minority youth in the Denver area to become responsible citizens through participation in lacrosse. Alex Vigil is the chair of Native Lacrosse, which has a web site at www.nativelax.org.
The Parks and People Foundation has administered athletic leagues for Baltimore City youth since 1992. The Baltimore City Middle School Lacrosse League was founded by Fred Whitridge in the early 1990s. The foundation is online at www.parksandpeople.org.
There are now 15 US Lacrosse BRIDGE affiliates, all of which receive special benefits and opportunities in exchange for their commitment to providing quality experieneces in line with the BRIDGE Initiative mission.
