2004-05 U.S. Women's Developmental Team Named
BALTIMORE – Twenty-four players, including the last two Tewaaraton Trophy winners — Rachael Becker (2003) and Amy Appelt (2004),were named by US Lacrosse to the 2004-05 U.S. Women's Developmental Team following a two-day tryout at Loyola College on June 12-13. A five-member selection committee selected the 24 players from a field of 98 that were invited to try out for the team.
Also named to the team were four members of the 2003 U.S. Under-19 Team: Leigh Jester, Kathleen Miller, Caitlin Reimers and Coco Stanwick. Princeton, which won the 2002 and 2003 NCAA Division I championships and was the runner-up in 2004 had seven players named to the team.
The players selected to the team will take part in various U.S. Team activities over the next 12 months and will be eligible to try out for the 2005 World Cup Team. Tryouts for the World Cup, which will be held in the United States next summer, begin in October.
Sue Murphy, the head coach at the University of Richmond, is the head coach for the U.S. Developmental Team. The complete team follows:
