Erin Brown Millon Leaving US Lacrosse

ERIN BROWN MILLON LEAVING US LACROSSE

BALTIMOREErin Brown Millon, Women's Division director at US Lacrosse since 1998, has announced that she will not return to her position with the organization following her upcoming maternity leave. Millon, and her husband, Mark, are expecting their first child in late March.

"This is a significant loss for US Lacrosse, but we wish Erin all the best," said Steve Stenersen, executive director of US Lacrosse. "She was our first Women's Division director, and her contribution to the organization represents the standard by which others in her position will be measured."

"I had the opportunity to work with so many committed and dedicated people on staff and with the volunteers throughout our organization," said Millon. "I truly enjoyed every aspect of the job and always wanted to make sure that the organization, and the Women's Division in particular, represented the very best in the game."

Millon was instrumental in evolving the governance structure of the United States Women's Lacrosse Association (USWLA) into a streamlined Women's Division of US Lacrosse. The USWLA was one of eight national lacrosse organizations that merged to form US Lacrosse. Millon's efforts helped women's lacrosse to continue to gain prominence across the nation, and she helped secure the first major equipment sponsorship for the U.S. Women's National Team Program, which captured three International Federation of Women's Lacrosse Association world championships during her tenure.

"First and foremost, I'm really excited for Erin to have this opportunity," said Susie Benner, president of the Women's Division. "This will be a wonderful experience for her. She has been the backbone of the Women's Division from its inception, both fundamentally and philosophically."

Millon joined US Lacrosse in 1998 after coaching at her alma mater, the University of Maryland. Prior to coaching, she worked for equipment manufacturer STX for over five years. Millon was an All-American at Maryland in 1990 and was a member of the U.S. Women's Team from 1990 to 2001. She played for the winning U.S. teams in the 1997 and 2001 World Cups. Earlier this year she was inducted into US Lacrosse – Greater Baltimore Chapter Hall of Fame.

A search for Millon's replacement has begun. Information on the position opening is available at the US Lacrosse employment opportunities section of our site.

US Lacrosse, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization, is the national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse.
