Fall 2004 Grants Available

Grants Available from US Lacrosse

Release: June 21, 2004

BALTIMORE — US Lacrosse is now accepting applications for the Fall 2004 cycle of youth equipment grants, Positive Coaching Alliance workshop grants and coaches travel clinic grants. All applications must be received by Aug. 25 and application forms are available on the US Lacrosse web site under the programs link (http://www.uslacrosse.org/programs/index.phtml) and also at the bottom of this release.

This year marks the sixth year of the US Lacrosse Youth Equipment Grant Program. Last year, US Lacrosse awarded 26 start-up boys and girls youth and high school lacrosse teams with a full set of equipment, and anticipates expanding the number of grant recipients this year. Designed to assist teams within their first year of operation, the US Lacrosse Youth Equipment Grant Program awards equipment packages (sticks, balls, protective gear, etc.) to selected youth- and high school-level teams, recreation and club teams; this grant program also includes some special grants for new and developing US Lacrosse BRIDGE affiliate programs in under-served communities.

Several lacrosse equipment manufacturers and retailers support the US Lacrosse Youth Equipment Grant Program, including Bacharach, Brine, Cascade, deBeer, Lax World, Shamrock Lacrosse, Sports Her Way, STX, Tuskewe Krafts/Patterson and Warrior Lacrosse.

Continuing the initiative to provide a positive experience for youth lacrosse players, coaches, officials and fans, US Lacrosse offers the fifth annual Positive Coaching Alliance Workshop Grant Program. In collaboration with fifth-year partner the Positive Coaching Alliance, US Lacrosse will award another 10 PCA workshop grants to lacrosse leagues and US Lacrosse chapters for 2004-2005. Each grant covers all costs for a one-day workshop valued at $2,000 that includes all workshop materials and costs (for up to 100 people) and the cost of travel for bringing the PCA workshop facilitator to the site. The facilitator's on-site expenses must be covered by the host organization. All PCA grant workshop events must take place by June 15, 2005.

Through the US Lacrosse Coaches Travel Clinic Program, high level-lacrosse coaches travel to developing areas of lacrosse to share their knowledge at coach and player clinics. The program covers the cost of the coach's mode of travel to your site. All on-site expenses, including accommodations, must be covered by the organizations sponsoring the clinic. Seven men's and seven women's travel clinic grants will be awarded. All Coaches Travel Clinics must take place between October 15, 2004 and January 15, 2005 OR between June 15, 2005 and October 15, 2005, due to clinician availability.
