Men's Division IA
Final
Saturday, May 15
#1 UC-Santa Barbara 8, #2 Colorado State 7

The second time around for top-seed #1 UC-Santa Barbara and 2nd seed Colorado State was more exciting in the US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates National Championship game then last year. This time the roles were reversed as top-ranked UCSB held off a surging Rams squad in the final minutes to win 8-7 here before several thousand people. The championship is the first for the Gauchos as they lost 6-4 a year ago in the same title game against Colorado State. UCSB's balance attack, seven different goal scorers, and their strong defense allowed then to hold the Rams in check. Gaucho Will Patton was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Colorado State captain Nick Stanitz-Harper scored his third goal of the day with 5:42 left to go in the game to pull the Rams to within one. CSU had several opportunities in the waining minutes but they couldn't get anything past UCSB junior goalie Ryan Brittain (10 saves). The Rams were making their sixth straight appearance in the championship game having won three previous titles.

Semifinals
Friday, May 14
#1 UC-Santa Barbara 15, #5 Sonoma State 5

UC-Santa Barbara has lined themselves up for the rematch they have been waiting over a year for. The top-seed Gauchos took down 5th seed Sonoma State in the semifinals rather easily 15-5 in the US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates National Championships this afternoon.  UCSB will now take on 2nd seed Colorado State in a rematch of last year's national championship. The Rams won that game 6-4. The temperatures dropped drastically this afternoon but that didn't keep Gaucho scoring machine Luke Wilson from cooling off. The junior attackman scored a game-high seven goals to lead the UCSB attack. Wilson broke open the second quarter with three goals, part of a 6-1 Gaucho quarter. UCSB led 9-2 at halftime. The Gauchos will be making their third appearance in the US Lacrosse MDIA Championship game. UCSB has never won the national title.

#2 Colorado State 16, #6 Brigham Young 10
For the sixth straight year the Colorado State Rams will be playing in the US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates National Championship game. The Rams advanced to Saturday's title game by taking care of 6th seed Brigham Young in the semifinals this afternoon 16-10. The national championship game will be a rematch of last season's title game that the Rams won 6-4. Colorado State has won three titles in their six tries. BYU went on a 4-0 run to close the second quarter and only trailed by one, 9-8, at halftime. In the third quarter the Rams threw up five goals on the scoreboard and never looked back. Quarterfinals
Wednesday, May 12
#1 UC-Santa Barbara 12, #8 Oregon 5

The postseason run for Oregon came to a close while the dream season for UC-Santa Barbara continued after the top-seed Gauchos took care of the 8th seed Ducks 12-5. Oregon, who was making their first appearance in the US Lacrosse MDIA National Championships, played a feisty first half and was only down 8-4 at halftime. UCSB pulled away in the second half and are in their second straight Final Four. Senior attackman Hank Caulkins (4 goals) did all of his damage in the first quarter as UCSB led 6-1. Oregon's Matt Connor (3 goals) scored his second goal of the game with 6:26 left before halftime off an assist from sophomore Chris Nelson (1,1). The Gauchos owned the second half outscoring the Ducks 4-1 with the final two goals coming off the stick of junior midfielder Will Patton (2,1). UCSB will now face 5th seed Sonoma State in the first semifinal game at Noon on Friday.

#2 Colorado State 11, #7 Michigan 7
The opportunities were plentiful and handed to 7th seed Michigan in their quarterfinal game against 2nd seed Colorado State but the Wolverines failed to take advantage and in the end lost their lead and the game, 11-7. Michigan entered the fourth quarter with a two-goal advantage up 6-4. A very physical and penalty filled final quarter, a combined 11 penalties, saw the Rams rally to outscore the Wolverines 7-1 and secure their 7th straight Final Four appearance at the US Lacrosse MDIA National Championships. Colorado State committed an eye-popping eight penalties in the fourth quarter but Michigan could only come up with one goal. Sophomore midfielder Derek Koll (2 goals, 1 assist), senior attackman Kelten Johnson (1,2) and junior midfielder Tim Farquhar (0,3) all registered three-point games for the Rams. Michigan's Mike O'Leary (2,0) was the only Wolverine to score multiple goals. The Rams will play a familiar foe in Brigham Young on Friday afternoon in the semifinals. CSU and BYU have met three times previously in the US Lacrosse MDIA National Championships; twice in the semifinals and in the 2000 national championship game which the Cougars won 17-13.

#5 Sonoma State 14, #4 Arizona 9
A driving rain and the 4th seed Arizona defense could not stop 5th seed Sonoma State as they advanced to their fifth Final Four with a 14-9 victory. The Laxcats had pulled within one goal, 10-9, early in the fourth quarter but the Seawolves closed the door on the game with a 4-0 run to end Arizona's season. The teams played a tightly contested first half and it showed on the scoreboard at halftime when the teams were tied at 5 apiece. Arizona's Harrison Crawford (3 goals, 1 assist) tied the game with two seconds left before the end of the second quarter. Sonoma's sophomore midfielder Brian Johnson stepped up in the second half and scored a team-high three goals to secure the victory. The road doesn't get easier for the Seawolves as they face-off against top-seed UC-Santa Barbara at Noon on Friday.

#6 BYU 16, #3 Colorado 9
The 6th seed Brigham Young Cougars pulled the first major upset of the US Lacrosse MDIA National Championship as they took down 3rd seed Colorado 16-9 this afternoon. Cougar freshman Mark Davis (6 goals, 1 assist) continued to be the go-to-guy on offense as he scored six goals for the second straight day. Fellow freshman Justin Heir (3,4) tied Davis with a seven-point game of his own. Colorado's Brian Morgan paced the Buffalo attack with four goals and an assist. BYU will be making their fifth consecutive appearance in the semifinals and face 2nd seed Colorado State. The Cougars, two-time national champions, last won the US Lacrosse MDIA National Championship in 2000. The Buffaloes were making only their second appearance in the quarterfinals; they lost 15-7 to arch-rival Colorado State in 2001.

The 15th seed Simon Fraser Clan was overmatched and outmanned as defending US Lacrosse MDIA National Champion Colorado State demolished the team from British Columbia, Canada this afternoon with a whopping 23-6 victory. The Clan's Steve Kojima got his team on the board first, 1:17 into the first quarter, but they would never lead again. The Rams went on a 9-0 run, spanning two quarters, and led 15-4 at halftime. CSU's depth and the Midwest heat ran down Simon Fraser in the second half. The Rams will now face Michigan in tomorrow's afternoon quarterfinal match-up. Simon Fraser will take on Cal Poly in the morning.

#4 Arizona 13, #13 Georgia Tech 7
Georgia Tech shook off any jitters of being in their first US Lacrosse MDIA Tournament and for one half of play were better then 4th seed Arizona. The 13th seed Yellow Jackets faltered in the second half as the Laxcats came back to win 13-7. Arizona trailed 5-4 at halftime but outscored Georgia Tech 6-1 in the decisive third quarter to squash any chance of a first round upset. Arizona attackmen Adam Paris (5 goals, 1 assists) and Greg Polheber (4 goals) keyed the third quarter turn around for the Laxcats. Minnesota-Duluth will meet Florida State on Wednesday morning.

#6 BYU 23, #11 Florida State 14
It was a rough MDIA Tournament debut for Florida State as the 6th seed BYU Cougars trounced the 11th seed Seminoles 23-14 this afternoon. The Cougars fell one goal short of tying the US Lacrosse MDIA record for most goals scored in a game by a team. Auburn scored 24 goals against Texas A&M in 1999. The Cougars were led offensively by senior midfielder Jordan Peel (7 goals, 2 assists) and freshman attackman Mark Davis (6,3) who combined for 13 BYU goals. Florida State sophomore attackman D.J. Romanchuk (3,3) pulled the 'Noles within two, 6-4 to start the second quarter but the Cougars closed out the quarter on a 7-2 run to lead 13-6 at halftime. BYU moves on to the quarterfinals where they will meet Colorado who took down Minnesota-Duluth 10-3. Florida State will meet Minnesota-Duluth tomorrow.

The Mustangs came out of the gate quick and scored the game's first four goals and never looked back. Cal Poly built a 10-3 lead going into halftime. The Mustang defense led by 2004 National and Defensive Player of the Year Lindsay Kanewischer clamped down on the Santa Clara offense and held them to only one goal in the second half. Santa Clara, who was making their first appearance in the US Lacrosse WDIA Tournament, couldn't get much going on offense and had a hard time slowing down the Cal Poly offense; nine different goal scorers. The Broncos took down top-seed Navy and 4th seed Florida to advance to the final game. Sophomore Meryl Rodgers (3 goals, 1 assist) led the Mustang attack.

The game was delayed due to lightning with 26:47 left in the game with the Gators leading 10-6. Florida got four goals from junior Erin Hogan and sophomore Mills Wallace in the victory. Like the Florida-Texas A&M quarterfinal game this game was delayed midway through the second half due to lightning.
