Ann Kitt Carpenetti Named Women's Division Director

Release: July 15, 2004

BALTIMORE — Ann Kitt Carpenetti has been named as the Women's Division Director for US Lacrosse, as announced by executive director Steve Stenersen today. Carpenetti will begin her duties with the organization on Aug. 4.

"We're very excited to have Ann joining us at US Lacrosse," said Stenersen. "She brings a wealth of talent and nonprofit experience to our organization, as well as a great passion for women's lacrosse."

"I look forward to the opportunity to bring my energy, commitment and passion for women's issues and lacrosse to US Lacrosse as the Women's Division Director," said Carpenetti.

Carpenetti comes to US Lacrosse from the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance in Washington D.C., where she served as director of government affairs & constituency outreach since November 2001. In her role she was responsible for developing and managing OCNA's annual legislative priorities and communicating them to constituents and legislators on Capitol Hill. She has previously worked for the National Partnership for Women & Families and the National Women's Health Network.

Carpenetti has an extensive background with women's lacrosse. A native of Long Island, she played defense at Oceanside High School and then was a player, captain and coach for the club team at the University of Buffalo. After graduating from Buffalo and moving to Washington in 1997, she became active in the Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse as a club player and women's lacrosse umpire.

In her position at US Lacrosse, Carpenetti will play a major role in helping to guide the future of women's lacrosse as the primary staff liaison with the Women's Division leadership and councils (athletes, coaches, intercollegiate associates, officials, post-collegiate clubs). She will also serve on the executive management team for US Lacrosse administration.

Carpenetti was selected from a national pool of applicants to replace Erin Brown Millon, who had served as the Women's Division Director since the organization's formation in 1998. Millon resigned this spring after the birth of her first child.

US Lacrosse, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the national governing body of men's and women's lacrosse. To learn more about the organization, visit www.uslacrosse.org.
