US Lacrosse Names Youth Equipment Grant Recipients
BALTIMORE — A record 34 lacrosse organizations will receive US Lacrosse Youth Equipment Grants this fall. The equipment grants include sticks and all required protective equipment for these start-up programs.
The Youth Equipment Grant Program, in its sixth year, is an annual offering of US Lacrosse. Lacrosse programs applying for the grant must be located in developing lacrosse areas throughout the country and have demonstrated financial need.
Lacrosse equipment manufacturers Brine, Cascade, deBeer, STX and Warrior donated equipment to US Lacrosse to make the program possible.
The retail value of the grants totals nearly $300,000.
"We are truly thankful to those companies for supporting these developing programs," said Jennifer Allen, director of programs for US Lacrosse. "Their generosity is helping to spread lacrosse around the country."
The Kamiakin Braves Lacrosse Club was this year's recipient of the Lance Holden Memorial Grant. The grant is named in honor of Lance Holden, a former partner with Lax World, a leading lacrosse retailer, who passed away in 1998. One new youth lacrosse program outside of the Mid-Atlantic area annually receives the grant.
