Utah Replaces CSU in MDIA Field

Colorado State Ruled Ineligiable for US Lacrosse MDIA Championship; Utah to Replace CSU in Tournament Field

BALTIMORE — The US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates Executive Board has determined that Colorado State is ineligible for the 2005 US Lacrosse Men's Division Intercollegiate Associates National Championship Tournament. Colorado State self-reported that they discovered that two players on their active roster had dropped classes earlier in the semester that had dropped their total credit load below the minimum required 12 credit hours needed to maintain MDIA eligibility. Those two players remained on the active roster with less than the required 12 credit hours through Colorado State's final six games, including their two Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference playoff games last weekend. One of the athletes played in all six of those games.

Colorado State will also be dropped from the current and final national polls. Unless more violations are discovered that would force a new investigation, the Executive Board will not require any additional penalties for the 2005 -2006 season or beyond. Consideration was given for Colorado State self-reporting the violations as soon as they were discovered.

Utah, the highest-rated team in the final US Lacrosse MDIA Poll that was not selected for the tournament, will replace Colorado State in the field. Utah will be the No. 13 seed. Colorado State was the No. 2 seed and all teams that were seeded from three to 13 are moving up one spot. Here are the adjusted first round match-ups.
