BALTIMORE A record 50 lacrosse organizations will receive US Lacrosse Youth Equipment Grants this year. This year's grants are being awarded to 17 boys' programs, nine girls' programs and 24 grants will be awarded to programs with both boys' and girls' lacrosse. The grants were awarded to programs in 27 states.
The Youth Equipment Grant Program, in its seventh year, is an annual offering of US Lacrosse. Lacrosse programs applying for the grant must show a demonstrated financial need.
US Lacrosse worked with equipment manufacturers Brine, Cascade, deBeer, STX and Warrior to make the program possible. The equipment included in this year's grant packages has a retail value of more than $400,000.
"Without the generous support of the lacrosse industry we wouldn't be able to reach so many children and help put sticks in their hands," said Beth Reisinger, sport development director for US Lacrosse. "This truly is a partnership helping to seed the sport in both traditional and developing lacrosse areas."
